Benedict Cumberbatch and Johnny Depp appeared on The Graham Norton Show on Friday in the UK. I guess Black Mass is only coming out in the UK now, where it came out months ago in America. You know what? This was surprisingly the most I’ve liked Johnny Depp in a while. He sort of gives a vibe that he’s taking himself too seriously, but he seems to genuinely like both Benedict and Graham Norton, and Depp plays along with many of the jokes. As for Benedict… people are already tweeting me to say that Benedict was “extra” just like Tom Hiddleston, but I’m not really seeing it. If Tom is an overeager puppy who piddles on the carpet from excitement, Benedict is…the more mature dog who likes to look out the window and bark at birds. Excitable, but not really noteworthy.

Here’s the section where Graham once again talks about how Benedict looks like an otter and Bendy gamely tries out “otter poses” for the fandom. It’s cute until Benedict takes the giant bear down. But I still didn’t cringe? Like, is this supposed to be cringey like Hiddleston? It’s not. You can tell it’s not cringe-y because Depp gamely plays along and kisses Cumby for the photo.

All in all, a decent appearance by both of them, I’d say. They seemed rather affectionate with each other too. Plus, Depp didn’t seem sh-tfaced, which is a nice change.
